Zemaitis 1980 E/G 6st CUSTOM DELUXE
1980年のカスタム･デラックスは、かつてギャリー・グレンジャーがオーダーし、リッチー・サンボラにゆずられたダブルカッタウエイと同じボディーシェイプで、他のメタルトップと比較すると、相当大きな外寸になっている。ダニーのエングレイヴは、彫の深いリーフ部分と、繊細な影をつけた作業が組み合わされており、この後、よりエングレイヴがダイナミックになる、ちょうど過渡期の作品として興味深い。ダーク･ブラウンのボディーバックが、メタルの大きさを目立たなくさせている。
シャーラーのM6に、ワッペンのヘッドロゴは、ヘッドを豪華に見せ、バインディングと相まって、重く見えがちのボディーデザインとのバランスをとっている。マホガニーのボディーは、比較的重めで、欧米人と体格差のある日本人が、ステージで振り回すには少々ハンデがあるかもしれない。バックから見ると、このギターのアウトラインが基本的には、ヒデユキ・カクノのベースに代表される、ダブルカッタウエイを踏襲しているのが見て取れる。このダーク・ブラウンの質感は、量産ギターでは表現しずらい、作者の自身に満ちた筆跡の様で、触れて暖かい。
1980 Custom Deluxe. Body shape similar to the double cutaway ordered by Gary Grainger then passed on to Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi). Relatively big size, compared to other Metal-Top models. Danny's engravings combine deeply carved leaves and subtle shades, interesting turning point of his career before the engravings get more dynamic. Dark brown body back making metal plate look smaller. Hefty body is balanced by lavishly decorated headstock, with Schaller M6 pegs and emblem head plate, and also binding. Relatively heavy mahogany body, somewhat difficult to handle on stage for Japanese guitarists, less strongly built than Westerners. Seen from back side, this guitar has the same outline as Hideyuki Kakuno's double cutaways. Dark brown body's texture is warm to touch, signature of an experienced craftsman, never to be found in factory machine-made guitars.
