1985年は、ドラゴンの当たり年だ。唯一無二のトライアングル・プレートをまとった、漆黒の騎士は、1?HBを3匹の荒々しいドラゴンが取り巻く、ステージ栄えを意識したモデル。メタルプレートにあわせてスラント・カットされたテールピースが、デザイナーとしてトニーがいかにドラマチックだったかを証明している。ケント･アームストロングがトニーのために作るピックアップには、高さ調整のネジが左右各1本のギブソンタイプと、片側2本で、PU角度も調整できるシャーラータイプがある。意外に使ってみると便利で、音色の変化に驚く。こういったゼマイティスのアバンギャルドなデザインを見ると、ステージ性を優先したトニーのデザイン感覚にあらためて感心する。ペグは、シャーラータイプのボタンだが、ゴトー製のサイドリグが搭載されている。

どの角度からも澱みのないデザイン
1985, year of the Dragons. Ebony black body, unique triangle plate, 3 dragons surrounding a humbucker, consciously designed for visual impact on stage. Slant-cut tailpiece to fit metal plate, showing Tony's dramatic designer skills. Two types of pick-ups were made for Tony by Kent Armstrong. One is Gibson-type, with a screw on one side for height control. The other is Schaller-type, two screws on each side for angle-control, unexpectedly convenient device giving stunning change in tonality. Close examination of such avant-garde details reveals Tony's abilities to design guitars for on-stage use. Note pegs with Schaller buttons, yet with Gotoh's side rigs.
