Zemaitis 1974 A/B 4st CUSTOM DELUXE

1974年のアコースティックベースは、デイヴ・ギルモアと同様、美しいスクロールヘッドにフレットレス・フィンガーボードの高級なスペック。70年代にレコーディングなどでも活躍した英国のベーシスト「Terry Wilson」がオーダーした逸品。その後、西海岸に定住したTerryは、2004年に現在のオーナー「TUBEの角野秀行」に、丁寧なレターと想像もつかないほど巨大なフライトケースと共に譲渡した。セパレートのローズブリッジとテールピースがフレットレスベースの微妙なピッチ調整を可能にしており、デザインに流されない機能美を追求するトニーの才能が、初期から開花しているマスターピース。ラベルは、まだLondon時代のものを、Kentで流用したのが判る。指板12thのハートインレイがキュートだ。

1974 high-grade acoustic bass guitar with lovely scroll head and fretless fingerboard, like Dave Gilmour's model. Ordered by Terry Wilson, English bassist of the '70s. Current owner, Hideyuki Kakuno of TUBE, acquired it from Terry, who had then moved to the West Coast, along with a very polite letter and an impossibly huge flight-case. Fretless bass guitar's subtle pitch adjustment is made possible by separated rose bridge and tailpiece. A masterpiece of functional beauty, Tony's designer talents were already in full bloom at this early stage. Looking at the label, you can tell Tony still used old London period labels in Kent. Cute heart-shaped inlay at 12F.
